I got to know Amy in the fall of 2008 through the online community when I first set up my blog. When I visited ‘Romance Book Wyrm’, her blog I was delighted to find she was not only a blogger but a writer who had two e-books published. After we got to know one another a little better, I felt very honored that she would share her work with me. “Bound by Magic”, and “Bound by Fate”, are the very first books Amy every wrote and I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. The stories are imaginative with an exciting plot and they have very sweet HEA.
Bound by Magic, is the story of ‘Amber Moyer’, a young woman who lives alone with her cat and works a regular job, she leads a very quiet existence. Amber has been experiencing increasingly erotic dreams involving the same man and at the opening of the story, she has her most realistic dream yet. ‘Tavis’, her dream lover actually speaks to her and they make love.
The next day, Amber visits a quiet area with a pretty waterfall where she goes to relax and think. She falls asleep and when she awakens, Tavis is there, in the flesh standing by the waterfall. Amber learns she is one of the ‘Chosen’ from earth and he is from ‘Aldar’, she and Tavis are meant to be soulmates. He also explains to her that if she accepts him and they perform a binding ceremony on Samhain, their union will maintain a stability between the two worlds and act as a magical ‘conduit’ and allow Tavis to enter her world completely.
This is a very erotic fantasy, Amber and Tavis’ mating causes atmospheric and magical surges between the two worlds during what is a soul deep union.
There is however a threat from the ‘Conjurers’ , a great evil who have the ability to syphon magic from the Aldarians and soften the ‘veil’ between the realms. Amber finds out from her mother that she suffered a great loss at the Conjurers hands and knew that her daughter was one of the Chosen.
Amy wrote an exciting climax to Amber and Tavis’ story as a Conjurer is able to enter the earth realm and her untried magical abilities are tested to the limit to save her soulmate.
‘Bound by Fate’, is a second short story directly linked to ‘Bound by Magic” and takes place in ‘Aldar’, a beautiful magical place. This is the story of Kira and Lucan (Tavis’ brother) who are both Aldarian warriors. At the opening of the book the Aldarian council members are preparing for battle against the Conjurer threat.
Lucan has declined Kira’s wish to join the warriors in a magical battle and she believes it is because she is a woman. Lucan is leader of the warriors and he and Kira have been in a relationship without commitment for some time, however there is an undeniable attraction between them. Following an upsetting encounter Lucan does acquiesce to her plea to join the battle. Kira feels and knows there is more than just a sexual attraction between herself and Lucan but he seems unable to accept it.
As the plot progresses and the battle looms, Lucan and Kira’s feelings for one another intensify and they realize they are ‘fated’ to be together which has special and extraordinary meaning for the Aldarian race.
The magical battle with the Conjurers results in surprising consequences. Tavis and Amber play a pivotal role in the culmination of Kira and Lucan’s story.
I found Amy’s stories delightful and readable. She has also posted her novel “Spirits Unveiled”, on her blog and it’s been wonderful to read more of her work and see the progression of her writing.
Thank you for sharing Amy!
