This little e-book was recommended by Valerie, I sent Amy her way, who also liked the story and reviewed it on her blog.
I finished Burn in the wee hours this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. This story is well told from a first person point of view and the main theme concerns reunited lovers.
The prologue is set in May 1997, Ally Ryanaldo gives her virginity to heartthrob boyfriend Blake Steele then he immediately takes off leaving her with a hole in her heart the size of the Grand Canyon. Okay, so as a reader I immediately rated Blake up there with America’s most hated jerks of all time.
Fast forward to present day, Ally is a hard working, successful suspense author, living in Ohio. She has built a good life for herself. Out of the blue she receives an e-mail from the infamous Blake indicating his computer software company is doing exceptionally well and he is going to open a branch in Columbus. He has been living in New York during the years since their separation and this is the first time Ally has heard from him.
I cheered Ally on, because at first she resists his overtures but after he returns to their hometown and they bump into one another he asks to see her again. After some deliberation Ally relents, accepting Blake’s invitation to dinner. This is after she involves her bisexual friend Heather who is coming to visit the following day.
The plan Ally and Heather hatch together is quite inventive. I will say Blake gets a lot more than he is expecting when he arrives at the door for a quiet dinner with his former sweetheart. There is f/f and f/f/m scenes in this book and Blake does have dom tendencies.
Ms. Rainey penned a wonderful HEA for these two people and I quite liked Blake by the end of the story. I will look for more of Ms. Rainey’s work in future.

I really like your reviews, Lea. No joke, you do a wonderful job of it.
I saw this one on Amy’s blog. I’m a bit shocked she would read a first person seeing as she isn’t the biggest fan of them.
This book seems somewhat similar to Toni Blake’s Tempt Me Tonight–which absolutely rocked!!!
I loved that story so much you have no idea. I let my mom borrow a copy and darn it when I got it back she had a coffe stain on it! Grrrrr….no more books for mom! LOL! I have to get another copy.
Thank you so much Barbara!
This was a nicely done little story. Very quick read – I call them fillers. lol
I will have to check out Toni Blake’s story. It sounds good.
YIKES – coffee stain on your book – so not good! lol

I’m glad you liked it too. I seen it on Loving Venus, Loving Mars a few weeks ago when I was recommended their blog for f/f recommendations. I’ve found a few more I’d like to read also.
I did buy one and read it…strictly lesbian. It was pretty good. I’d read more, but I do like the man involved still, but it wasn’t bad, I felt the connection between them.
Barbara, I didn’t mind the first person in this because it was short. I don’t know, some of my fantasies I’ve read are in first person, and at the time it never bothered me. But the more I read the less I like it.
Hey Amy:
Yeah this was a good short read. As I said to Barbara, I think the writer did a really good job with this one.
Hope you are feeling better.

Great review Lea!
I read Haley’s Cabin some time ago and I can also recommend Touching Lace and Tasting Candy….both really good ebooks by Anne!!
I agree with Barbara, Lea. Your reviews are really fantastic. I may just have to join the bandwagon here and check this one out.
Thanks Blanche:
And, thank you for the heads-up. I will read more of Anne Rainey’s work when I weedle the TBR down a bit. lol
I did like her story very much though.
Christine:
Thank you so much for the compliment! It means so much to me because your reviews just blow me away!!! You write fabulous reviews.
All the best to both of you.
L
Yes, you all write wonderful reviews! Where as I write sucky reviews…LMAO!! That’s okay though, I’m cool with that
!
Yeah, I’m in a better mood this morning. It’s the evenings that make me sad.
OMG! Amy you so DO NOT write sucky reviews!!!
Your reviews rock woman, as does your writing!! YIKES – I reviewed your books for goodness sakes.
I’m so glad you are feeling better this morning.
I’ll be online tonight if you want to chat.
L
Thank you, Lea! I just can’t seem to retell a story. More how I felt, I guess. It all gets jumbled in my head and when I do get it out, I’m so darn proud!
And so you should be! You have a gift girl.
I mean that.

Lea :::sigh::: I wish I like e-books.
Right now I have two e-books (Megan Hart and Lora Leigh) that have been sitting on my comp for months. Everytime I sit down to read one I just end up on the internet instead.
Do you read off your comp or do you have a “reader’?
Hey VFG:
I have an e-reader. Like you I HATE reading on the comp. Without my e-bookwise I’d never read another e-book. lol
Looking forward to chatting soon.
